As for me, my favorite mountain bike is my 89 Wicked Fat Chance. Chris Chance( Fat City Cycles) made some real nice bikes. I also like my bottom of the line Kline Pulse Comp.
I borrowed a friend's Bianchi once, it was awesome! The only bad part was that the rear brake pad was misaligned and had been rubbing on the tire for some time. The tire blew out right after I had gone down a very steep hill (on the street) going at least 30 MPH. I never borrow bikes anymore without inspecting them first!
got a Schwinn that I pulled out of some guy's garbage. Threw on better brakes, low profile handlebars, new wheels and tires, new chain, and regeared the whole thing. I love it. With the gearing I've got in it, in 1st gear you can almost flip yourself upside down my pushing the pedal, and I've never gotten stuck on rocks or anything with it, but in 18th gear, I can outrun most road race bikes here in Indy. I LOOOOOVE this bike!
