foghorn noise
I have an F150 Supercrew 2001 4.6l with a Volant cold air intake, superchip and aftermarket exhaust. At about 50k miles it started making an intermitent "foghorn" noise that I have not been able to track down. It can sit at idle in the driveway for 20 mins w/out making the noise, but pull out down the road and lo and behold! I have troubleshot the intake and need ideas. Anyone?

I have a cold air intake myself. I have a 97' f-150 with the 5.4 with 88k miles and every once and a while i get the same noise. Usually when I hear the noise, I need to clean the air filter - i bet you already tried that though. Other than that, i get the noise when there are dramatic temp changes, like you said where you sit in your driveway, no noise for 20 mins, but when you drive, it starts up, hence a temp change because you started driving. mine also makes the noise for about 5 seconds after i turn the truck off, ever get the noise then?
