I have an 03 F250 with the 6.0 and auto transmission.
I just bought a 97 F350 regular cab, 7.3, auto tranmisson with an 84" Cab to axle dimension. The truck had a 12' van body which I removed and am waiting for my 12' flatbed dump to be built.
There are a two things I noticed and would like to find out if this is normal for the F350.
At 70mph on the interstate the F350 tachs around 2400-2500 rpm while my F250 only tachs 2000 rpm
The F350 shifts much more harshly than my F250 and when you let off the accelerator, the F350 de-accelerates much faster than my F250. The F350 actually feels like my F250 does when the tow/haul is in the tow mode. (I made sure the F350's OD is on)
Is this just the differences in the engine/tranmissions of the two trucks or is there something wrong with the F350.
the shifts will feel different in the 97. the 97 still used the E4OD while your 03 uses the torqshift (5R100 i believe is the designation). unlike the E4OD, the torqshift is completely electonic. this could explain why it shifts smoother than the 97. the steeper rear end would also explain the faster deceleration.
