synthetic oil is better for winter starts? My truck will be seeing temperatures in Maine down to -20 degrees farenheit and wont be started for two to three days. Althjough i think ill star it every day while im up there to prevent any problems.
yea you'll deffinately want to run 0w-30 (i think.... someone can jump in here) synth and plug in the block heater every night during the winter.... I live in MA and it doesn't get that cold... i have been ok this winter with 15w-40 (few sub zero days).... But I was lucky to get a very well maintained rig when i bought it a while back... Good luck
dd1684,
hey man, i have a couple of sleds up in central maine, and trust me, while you are there, always plug your truck in at night...! as for your dad not believing you about towing those sleds, you are right. you can't tow 6k lbs. in a less areodynamic package than my old camper, and, like i said, 72 - 74 mph, auto tranny with the overdrive on, no downshifting on the highway with mild to moderate hills...! you'll see...!
johnny8,
My dad will become a believer. Oh I plan on plugging it in every night while I'm up there. Actually, it'll stay plugged in the whole time because we won't be driving it until we leave for home. Oh, and I'm gonna make a stretch in saying you ride Cats. I'm a Yamaha guy myself. We ride out of Rangely. About five hours from MA.
yes sir... i picked up two 99 arctic cat cougars this winter... 550cc liquid cooled twins with twin carbs... they run about 80 hp and are awesome trail sleds, bought them from my wife's aunt for $900 each, she gave them to us...! one had 1100 miles the other had 500... ! we have them stored at her uncles in athens... just north of skowtown...
DD1684: If you drive less than 15,000 miles a year the PSD is going to cost you more to drive!! That's plain and simple fact, actually the break even mileage is 22,500 miles a year anything more than that the PSD starts pay for itself. I drive 55,000 miles a year so I have the PSD, Well I actually have 2 PSDs but whos counting!! If it is already paid for you can't beat the PSD!!
I drive roughly 10K-12K per year. I still save on fuel costs somewhat due to the slightly better mileage than that of my Ram 1500 I used to own. It actually balances out. It costs me about $7 dollars more per week to drive the PSD. To me, it's well worth it. I'm still young, with minimal responsibilities, so I'm going to try enjoying not worrying about expences of driving it. If expenses bothered me too much, then I'd own a Toyota Camry! And we know that'll happen when Hell freezes over! Of course, Hell may be freezing over really soon with this surge in fuel prices.
