One Cat or Two?
'93 F150 4.9L AT 2wd 137K. Has two cats from the factory. Is this necessary? My emissions were horrible and failed. Six runs great though - plugs looked perfect. No siginificant codes came up upon scanning.
The air mgmnt. valve is pulsing air out of the filtler/valve assembly. One hose comes from the air/smog pump to the valve and another from the exhaust (runs parallel to the pass. side of block back to the exhasut). What is this check valve for? Should it be pulsing air in or exhaust out? Confused.
Assuming I need new cats, can I get away with one high flow or should I do two cheapos? I would like to add a high flow muffler and 2.5" single pipe throughout. Suggestions, comments?
