Filled my tank today, $96 ($2.50gal). Also verified WalMart no longer carries Motorcraft products. My truck is used strictly for personal transportation, take the cost of the truck, insurance, FUEL,and maintainance, it would be cheaper to drive a Porsche Carrera. It was sweet while it lasted, but it's KILLIN me.
Auto Zone carries the moto filter for just a couple bucks more and also an aftermarket brand. Just curious but $96. at 2.50 a gallon is 38.4 gallons...thats cutting it kind of close isn't it? You can also get the filters on line for a couple bucks more than than what wal-mart had...all moto parts.
I found that our local walmart just started carrying mobil 1 truck and suv for 19.93 a gallon and rotella T full synthetic for 13.50 a gallon. Are those good prices? How is the rotella? I havent heard much about it. They had 4 of the motorcraft 6.0 oil filters on the shelf, 2 wrapped in plastic and 2 that were'nt, I bought the 2 that were wrapped. There seems to be alot of the super tech stuff on the shelves, is that any good? Autozone has the motorcraft filters for 19 and change here and the regular rotella is 9.50 a gallon compared to 5.95 at wally world. Fuel at the truck stop in sunny West Greenwich RI was 2.49 this morning. looks like its going back up. I thought the prices were supposed to go down when it started warming up? Guess thats one of those "urban myths" we keep hearing about, lol. Take care, John
Oil Guard is a sponsor of this great site . And if you order six oil filters you get free shipping . And they are only $11.00 each . Support our supporters .
I feel your pain.... I am at the point where I need to park this truck even though I like driving it I can no longer afford to.
Burned 20 bucks in fuel yesterday just doing errands. We are told here not to expect fuel to go back down anytime soon, if at all. Wonder what this is going to do to the resale market?
I owned a Porsche and like my new truck better ... my blond honey looks just as sexy to me sitting in my truck as she looked in my Porsche. I've been getting 18-19 mpg on the hwy ... that's calculated and has been consistent over 4 400 mile round trips ... I seriously can't complain ...
They can't let the high price go very long or Canada, the US, and other countries will start developing oil fields etc.
The US is pumping a lot of oil but we can't refine enough of it. To many restrictions to have more refineries. That and plus Europe and China areas are way up in fuel consumption. The price will settle a little bit but will never be real cheap again.
THATS what I did back in sept. I bought a toyota pickup to run around in and only use the psd to pull. The toy is fun to drive and gets great mpgs. IT is to the point where it no longer pays to have a diesel, fuel cost more and the 6.0 doesnt get the mpgs ford said it would. I AM AMAZED that someone hasnt built a diesel that gets the mpgs they were designed to get.
This is just MHO. If you did not buy the 6.0 for a long term "investment", you spent way too much money. I'm planning on keeping mine for 20 years, someone willing. I think if you do the math over, say, 200,000 miles vs a V-10, the 6.0 will come out cheaper. Gas is going up too folks, and it just might get close to diesel. Yes, some need (want) it for towing, but aren't the towing capablities similar to the 6.0? I'm not talking speed or quickness or towing uphill at 70. But just plain getting the job done.
So from a cost standpoint, do the math.
I should state that most 6.0's seem to get 15-18 mpg. I know this theory doesn't apply, it might though, to those getting 12 mpg.
