Superchips question

Hi there!

I have a '96 F-250 PSD and tried to "boost" up my engine by running the SuperchipsMicrotuner 1705 on it. Tried all 3 levels and found no power gain at all. Does my stock exhaust system restrict any power gain or could something else might be wrong? My brothat have a '95 F-250 PSD, and we find no power gain there either. Bad program/chip settings maybe? I get one error code, of course it's my CPS, but that shouldn't have anything to do with that, since my brother does not have that error code?

BTW, this is my first post. Live in Norway, so this forum is really helpful since there are not too many F-250's here....

Keep up the good work, thx in advance!

Arve

I run a Superchips tuner like yours. My truck comes to life, bigtime, when I use it. Sounds like it may not be installing correctly. Call Superchips customer service.

My truck showed some wierd behavior when I installed the 1705 tow safe program over itself. Do not install a program again without restoring to stock first. If you have done that, restore it to stock now. Run it a little and then start all over and install the tow safe program. Be very careful to follow all the steps exactly. If the programmer says it is installed the truck should come to life; any of the 3 programs will add a heap of power; there will be no doubt it is working.

I too have tried the Superchips tuner on my 94 psd. Only thing that changed was I could see a little more smoke from the pipe. I don't think the Superchips tuner works very well on the OBS PSD's. Esp. the manual tranny's where you don't even notice the tranny shifts. Improving exhaust and intake may help some. I think the best choice in the chip department for our trucks is a four position chip. Even at that the stock injectors don't flow enough to see much more than about 60 hp increase.

post from last week in the scmt forum

well im a cynical type of guy but when i installed the microtuner and got not only a noticeable differance in power increase over the banks pos chip...my mileage went up at least 25 miles a tank!...and my tranny feels brand new!...its unbelievable...and i was racing guys home up hills and booting it around town all day...totally impressed..what a great product!...i cant believe i spent so much money (3times what i paid for the microtuner) and got such crappy performace from the banks chip...

the claimed increase from banks was 50 hp...i definitly noticed the extra power claimed by superchips
