Does it sound like a CPS problem?
I have been troubleshooting a constant surge in the idle and cannot figure it out. I have a constant surge/fluxuation in my idle of about 30-50 RPM whether I'm at idle or moving. Even at a constant speed down the Hwy I can feel and see the constant 30-50 RPM surge. And now yesterday two times as I was pulling away from the light I had a VERY quick dead spot almost like the ignition switch was bumped off and back on really quick.
Does this sound like the dreaded CPS?

Have you checked for any trouble codes? A friend of mine had a surging problem and thought it was the torque converter. He had it replaced and still had the problem. I told him to try the cam pos sensor, since he carried a spare. This fixed his problem. Sure a lot cheaper than the TC. Don't know for sure if this is your problem. but I hope this helps.

more than likely, it's the cps. you still might want to replace your fuel filter, also.
i carry a spare cps in my '99 f350 because it's ALWAYS going to fail at the worst possible time. make sure you DON'T go to ford for it...i get mine at the IH dealer.

I have this surge condition and it increases with a Superchip install. We changed the CPS and the fuel pump, fuel filter, oil+ added a anti foam additive, added a + cetane cleaner to fuel and it is still there. Also tested the BD Exhaust brake for malfunction and found none. Anyone have another solution
