I tried asking this in the clutch forum but got no answer, so I thought someone here might know. Is there anything I can do to a clutch to take some of the pressure off. I have arthritis in my knees and hips. Not real bad but enough that using the clutch might be a problem. I like a stick better than automatic, and would like to go back to one. My van has auto and is nothing but problems. I need a second truck, but I don't want to but more problems. So if I could do something with the clutch, I would give it a try. Thanks for any help.
Don't know if a hydraulic throw-out bearing from a race car set up would be easier. Don't have a clue if one would fit or how you would figure it out. It would be a bit of work for sure.
If you like to shift, as a lot of us do, you may want to consider a full manual valve body for an auto trans and put in a long floor shifter like one from LOKAR that they use in street rods. Don't know how street friendly that would be either. Don't know of a cheap fix. Make sure your clutch system is working efficiently now as it is.
Good luck.
A chiropractor/naturopath/acupuncturist might be a thought. Have heard some interesting success stories from alternative treatments. Sorry I'm off topic.
If you have the stock clutch then it is a dual mass flywheel. After researching this topic when my clutch went out I found they are junk. I had the stiffest clutch anyone had ever pushed until last week when I got dun with the LUK single mass conversion kit. I literally went from the stiffest clutch you had ever pushed to the easiest clutch to push. Now it practically falls to the floor with little effort. Its like driving a sports car except different.
Just do a search on this site for LUK clutch and you will get quite a bit of articles.
I had no idea the LUK SM conversion was so light on the pedal. Might not be light on the wallet, but it is superior to the DM by far from what I've read here.
Just wonder why no one has mentioned the "easy pedal" benefit before?
One more good thing to make a note of. Thanks!!

The entire parts list for the Luk conversion is about the same price as a new dual mass flywheel alone.
When I changed my stock 6.9 clutch (solid flywheel) the pedal went from hard to real easy to push. I also changed the little lever on the clutch pedal linkage because the pin for the master cylinder linkage was about worn clear through. Now I have a very easy to push clutch.
