Honda 2 strokes
Its gonna be a CR 250 most likely, I heard from a friend that they stopped, or are soon to stop making 2 strokes. IS this a true story or what?
I want a 2 stroke definately, gotta love em, I was looking on the website they showed no 2 strokes, or maybe ive had a few too many tonight to see where they are.
i have litterally been hearing that 2 stokes were not gonna be made the next year. and year, after year, after year, the 2 stroks are back,
i'm not worried about 2 stokes going away.

Tell that to my 12 year old oil injected Mercury.
Not make anymore? Eventually, but don't hold your breath.
The fact is, they started pushing for this due to the image of "smoking, oil burning, noisy" 2 strokes.
Fact is, modern 2 stroke technology has brought the emissions down to the point that many are equal to their 4 stroke counter part. Now, add to this the weight advantage (4 strokes are heavier, of course), and you can boost economy by sticking with an oil-burner.
I'm an avid fisherman, and own a bass boat, so I have watched this debate rage on for quite a while.
The advent of big (200hp +) 4 stroke outboards was supposed to eliminate 2 strokes from the market. Yet, all it has done is provide an incentive to the industry to improve their technology to keep up.
Granted, my knowledge is for the most part pertaining to outboard engines, but, the concept carries over into any power product.
All they really needed to do with the 2 strokes was get them to meet the modern emmisions & pollution controls standards. And they have done so, and then some, so the government has really backed off the issue.
Now, if they could just make one that was as quiet as a Mercury Verado, I'd be one happy guy. Sneak up on the fishes at 80MPH, that's how to catch em, yeah....

Yep! 2 strokes are powerful. Use to ride an old 76 Suzuki RM 370. Man, that was fun.
2005 CR 250 and ill put about 2grand down on it if im accepted.
I cant wait to ride.....
Not only do I own one, I work for a Marine Dealer/Manufacturer. I install virtually every type of Marine engine, 2 stroke Carb, 2 Stroke Direct Injection, both the older version, Ficht, now just DI and E-Tec outboards. Also, on occasion, those Black-Motors-Which-Shall-Remain-Nameless. And the rare H or Y motors too.

The steady rumors of the demise of two strokes has been around for years, and it is absolutely not true.
The current product line of E-Tecs can, and do meet 2008 CARB and EUROCARB specifications, with room to spare. They’re lighter and far less complex than a comparable four stroker.
Now, don’t get me wrong, four stroke outboards have a place, but at this point, many of the competitive branded four strokes, including the four strokes we sell under the Johnson Brand have a very tough time keeping up with an E-Tec. While both use almost the same amount of fuel, some models we offer even beat the four strokes on emissions and fuel economy. Not to start an off-topic debate, and has beaten most of the competition hands down in power and speed. (Ok you can go cuss for a while, I’m not getting sucked into that never ending argument)
What will soon be gone are the carbureted two strokes, they simply won’t make the cut when the 2006 emission standards go into effect.
If you like to work on your own outboard, better get one this year, because next year, or the year after you’ll have to have a computer and a box full of special tools to even begin to service a new one. I bought a PDA just for the new engines.
From what I've seen in the trade mags, most recreational two stroke engines will either be direct injection, or gone.
(I won't give up my two stroke Lawn Boy for love nor money! Older n dirt and still two pulls max to start! Cuts better and is easier to push. And, it's never been fed anything but Outboard Motor oil either
)
I'm a big snowmobiler racer and the power-to-weight ratio is unbeatable! Now that they are meeting emission standards they are no longer, or not as much, being threated for extinction. Plus the sound of a 2-stroke ported, polished, "improved", and aftermarket pipes is soooo beautiful!!!
