9" rear axle question.

9" rear axle question.
are there C-clips that hold rear axle in place or is it just a retaining plate that hold the axle in place? My axle slid down 2" causing it to disengage from the ring and pinion. I hammered it back in. Seems to work but will it happen again??? Thank you DDOG

If it came out, your wheel bearing is shot and it should be making terrible noises and vibration and catching on fire and coming out of the axle housing and locking up and tearing the brakes off and causing the vehicle to roll over burn and kill everyone within a two mile radius. Other than that, it's a simple problem.
