can someone tell me ,what is the maximum width of tire/axle,[from outside of one tire to the outside of the other tire] that would safely fit in a 55 f100.I am planning a mustang II type crossmember install, but i want the tires tucked in under the fenders.seems like the 4 inch over kits would be a little wide for my wheel offset.how much fender clearence will I need to be safe? thanks p/s i hardly ever get replys nowdays/could it be my breath?
Just measured this. My 56 has a Fat Man Stage I MII IFS. Outside of front tire to outside of tire measures 72.0. There is 2.0 clearance from outside of tire to outside of fender lip. The rims are 15 X 8 with 3.0 backspace. The tires are P235/60R15.
You'll need to adjust for the rims/tires you want to run. I could live with a 2.0 backspace and still have clearance for turning. I like the 10" wide front tires because most of the weight is up there and the disk brakes need a footprint with some traction to stop the thing.
