Boost Gauge Readings

I have searched the forum and can't find the answer. I just installed Autometer boost and pyro gauges. Everything seems fine except the boost readings. The gauge stays on about 7-8 psi except when under load. It will move then. What may I have done wrong. With the key off it still shows 7-8 psi.

Sounds like a bad gauge. It should be at zero with no boost signal. Does it read the same with the line disconnected?

Yes, it reads the same all the time unless under power. Is there any adjustments to these gauges.

Where did you install the hose compression fitting? In the MAP Line or the manifold?

I wanted to install it in the Map Line but can't find a fitting to make it work. I can make up the fitting with several different pieces but it becomes about 2 1/2" long and I didn't like the look, so I want to install it in the manifold and need to know where to drill and tap at????????????

Sorry You are right, I only remebered the the pic of the tee in the MAP line. Sorry for being annoying, little nervous ya know. Once the hole is drilled it's perminent.

I purchased the gauge from RPM outlet and they don't seem to care whether it works or not. Thier theory is I have an Autometer gauge so I should deal with Autometer. Great customer relations. The gauge appears to work when the turbo is spooling but just will not go below 7-8 psi. Also, the Pyrometer reads 350-400 at cruise, is this about normal. I shut the truck down for about 30 minutes and it still showed 200. Not sure about reading these things just yet.

I have heard alot about the customer service at that place. Not Good! As for the pyro where is you thermocouple. pre or post turbo. And what speed is "crusin". At 65-70 mph my pre turbo pryo reads around 550-600 deg. If your post turbo your proably pretty close.

The probe is post turbo. Ken, I wish I had that info prior to ordering. The exhaust was no issue but the relpy I got when I called about the gauge was very unsatisfactory.
