Ok, I have a '91 F-150 4x4. Right now I am running 31x10.5's and I'm getting a little rub in tight turns. I'm thinking of wheel spacers . . . but I don't know my lug pattern or how to find it. Also, is there a limit on how far out I will want to go before I start to get negative side affects?? An inch would be really great, but I have heard that I wont want to go past 5/16". I would greaty appreciate advice. Thanks much!
Your F150 will have a 5 on 5.5" bolt circle. 97 up went metric (5 on 135mm).
If the tires are rubbing on the fenders, moving them further out will just cause them to rub in a different spot on the tire, they'll still rub. If they are rubbing on the frame, spacers might help you however you may end up with rubbing on the fender in that case.
Where is it rubbing?
Personally, I'd never EVER use wheel spacers on anything. Longer studs is a way of encouraging breakage. Get wheels with the correct backspacing, lift the truck a little bit, etc. Just my 2 cents.
there are companies that make wheel spacers that bolt onto the flange like a tire, and then you bolt the tire to the spacers, they are supposed to be better than a spacer and longer lugs or just a spacer to space them out, regardless, with 31X10.5's im assuming yours rub on the radius arms, mine do it to on my 87 f-150 4X4. on the radius arms. when I lift my truck I think I will do a diffrent backspacing or a wheel adapter style, spacer.
But if your gonna space them out, go with the adapter style spacers, they have the same theroy behind them as dually wheel spacers used on the front of a dually truck.
I saw them on e-bay, in 1.25" thickness and 2" thickness, the 1.25" would make the truck 2.5" wider, the 2", will make it 4" wider,
