Smile Need help with Intake Codes

Have a 390 in a 65 F-100. has a 2 barrel on now with codes c3ae9425b with another code 6w6 or 9m9 not sure which way it to read it. going to put a 4 barrel with codes c3ae9425b with another code 3d15. Can one help me out with theses codes. Everything looks the same except the 2 barrel vs 4 barrel and in the very back middle there is a fixing for a hose. Any know what that goes to? and I need a new water temp sending unit. Any idea on the part number. Thanks again for your time an answers.

The part number they show in the 64-72 parts books is D0ZZ 10884-A . You can get an equivalent one from any parts store. It has been superceded again, but I don't have the latest number. This was used in many different engines. If that fitting is 3/8 inch or smaller, it's a vac fitting for a power brake booster. If you don't have that. just remove and plug. I used that same manifold years ago on a swap on my 75 with a 360.

Can I just cap it off until I get power brakes or is it best to plug it?

Yes, just get a vac plug or hose and seal it off temporarily.

On that old of a manifold, you may very will be referring to the "road draft tube" hole, or crankcase vent as they are refered to. It can be blocked off, generally with a flat plate. The temp sending unit can be had at any local parts store.

If you are talking about this then it is the oil filler tube...scroll down to the picture with the intake filter and you can see the oil filler tube on the passenger side of the intake front.

C3AE designates it as a ford intermediate "A" the "E" in the code designates which parts house it came from. IE a galaxie intake. How do you know the engine is a 390? did you test the bore and stroke? A 352 of 65 vintage will have those part numbers.

the 3D15 code works out to april 15th 1963
the 6w6 dont work shure it is not a 6h6? that would be a August 6 1966 code
the 9m9 is similar.

Does the hole intersect the intake runner or water passage?

If it is in the intake runner it is for the power accessories.

Water passages are 5/8 or 3/4". That's why I mentioned the small tube. By his replies, it sounds like a vac tube, but can't be sure. The heater hose connection is in the front, right? It's not a road draft tube as the 60-64 cars all list a PCV.
