Wiring Question

Hi Guys. I recently bought a 95 F-350 PSD 5 speed and I'm having trouble figuring out the trailer wiring. The truck has some funky wiring that has been cut off and wires just hanging. The trailer is a 2001 Trails West gooseneck that "may" have been re-wired by the previous owner. My question is this...Where do I start to figure out which of these is the problem. The trailer brakes lock up when I put the truck in reverse while the power is hooked up. When the power cable is un-hooked the trailer doesn't lock but I'm stumped as to where to start with the wiring. Any suggestions??

if it is a six way round plug the terminal marked stop a lot of times is not used for brakes the center one is I always wire my stuff that way just cause everyone else in my area does so if I use someone elses trailer it will work

You have a reverse light terminal in your plug (truck) to use incase your trailer has reverse lights. Whats happening is that wire, when pluged in, is to the trailer brakes. So when you put it in reverse it is sending the juice to the trailer brakes. Start with the truck and using a test light, go through and see what all the wires are, stop-left-right-tail and so on and if they work. Then if you have to try and match them to the trailer the best you can.

Thanks a million, all of you! Got it figured out and ready to roll. Now if I can just get the horses to cooperate it should be a great summer!
