F150 Radius Arm bushing replacement

It 's time for me to replace the radius arm bushings on my 85 F140 4x4. My buddy suggested graphite impregnated bushings so they don't squeak. Is there a FAQ someplace that details this replacement? I'm considering doing this job myself. Thanks

It's pretty basic. Energy Suspension makes a Polyurethane graphite impreganted bushing. It's black and is a revised design. Only two parts plus two washers, as opposed to six parts. I've also heard that Moog makes a revised design bushing as well. Stay away from Rubber bushings, especially on the passenger side.

F150 Radius Arm bushing replacement

I just replaced them on my truck after I found the drivers side bushing had a crack in it and was moving around, I went with the red poly-urathane bushings as they match my rancho shocks/boots Installation was a PITA but worth it, the bracket that holds them is rivited on, gotta snap them off, I dont have a rivet gun (who does?!) so I replaced them with grade 8 bolts, seems to be holding up fine and no more washy steering when I am trail riding, before my steering wheel would get REALLY loose, thats almost gone now.

you ddon't have to remove rivets and brackets. if you get a couple of floor jacks and jackstands, you can remove the shocksfrom the lower mountings, unhook swaybar, unbolt the arms and the axle halves can be pulled forward enough to get bushings out. if your doing the job, youshould also replace the bushings on the ttb to the frame. it is actually easier to do the radius bushings if you pull these out and drop this part down first, then pull axle forward. it is also easier if you remove caliper and get it out of the way.
i have used red energy suspension bushings several times and have not had squeaking problems.

Twin Traction Beam. Ford's nomenclature for an independent front suspension on a 4 wheel drive back then.

And from what all the 4WD Shops tell me, the TTB is one of the strongest yet simplistic designs for an IFS truck.

Be that as it may, if I ever do buy a 4wd it will have a solid front axle
