Rear End Kit??????

My F-150 supercab 4.6 is making a humming noise only when gas is applied, I took it to the dealer and hesaid it needed a rear end kit????? He ordered it. Does anyone know what this is and what it helps?

I think it is the ring, pinion and assorted seals, gaskets,shims & bearings related to changing the ring and pinion.

The hum is fixed by replacing the entire setup that osbornk mentioned. Its from an improperly setup R&P from the factory.
