Flywheel Ring gear

Flywheel Ring gear
Is there a right and wrong side to ring gear? I have a few ring gear teeth with the starter-side edge chipped; as long as I have the flywheel, out I'm thinking I can take ring gear off and put it back on the other way.
Anything wrong with doing that?

Flywheel Ring gear
Raul, I kind of feel that it you are going to go that far, you might as well replace the ring gear. There is no telling how long it will last. Also, check starter for worn gear and replace it if necessary. I would hate for you to put it all back together and have to take it all apart again in short time. Just my two cents. Good luck.

Flywheel Ring gear
Raul, the ring gear can be flipped on a flywheel but I'd advise not doing it your self...take it to an auto machine shop. You still need to check out the starter drive (if it were me I'd replace the drive) as suggested by jakegypsum in the above post. Deen
