Question Alternator/carb Space

I am doing a flathead for my 50 F-1. Intend to use 4BBL intake and a baby holley (390 cfm). My question is, will a standard style alternator fit in the stock location using one of the available adapter brackets, or will there be interference with the carb.?

Hey Mike, you shouldn't have a problem especially with the available brackets and the GM alternators they are not very long. Good luck

The alt should fit, there's an abundance of adapters and brackets out there so without knowing what you're using its hard to say definitely. Be sure to read thru this link. I was working on the same setup until I was derailed by the vacuum source.

Basically the 4bbl won't work with the stock distributor.

Thanks for the link. I am ditching the stock distributor for a Mallory Unilite, mechanical advance. I have had the same unit in my 67 Mustang/351C for many years and have been very happy.
