Does anyone have headers on a hiboy w/ a 400? i have a 77, am looking for heders, but cannot find any that say they fit, only for 77.5 - 79. was wondering if anyone has them and what make / model they used.
You probably have a 1977.5. I Don't Highboys came with a 400 engine. Look at your rear leaf springs. If they are 2.5 inches wide you have a pre 77.5, if they are 3 inches wide you have a post 77.5.
you could get a 400 in 77, but not before that, is what i've read.
true, early 77's had 400's available, and the rear leafs were 2 1/4 wide, I honestly dont know anybody with a set of headers on their 400 though and most parts places dont know there is a frame, motor mount, and shock mount difference on the early 77 to the late 77
I had a highboy with a 351M, and the one i have now had a 400 in it, but switched to a 460. You pose a really good question though. I bet you're out of luck. Maybe try L&L Products? (LandLProducts.com, i think) Or Hedman? I know Hedman makes them for the 77.5-79.
thanks for the replies. i did measure the springs, 2.25" wide. the title says its a 77, ran the vin from the door, says unknown, double check vin, or '72, depending on wether i use "0" or "O". pretty sur its not a 72, but the engine code does say a 400, so it pretty much has to be a 77, divorced case and all. someday i'm gonna find that # on the frame. regardless, its what i have for a plow/work /play truck, so it s what ive got to work with. was hoping to find some used headers to throw on it, just dont know what to look for that will fit. stock exhaust is all rotted off at the engine, so i need to do something if i want to drive it without getting pulled over. looks bad enough as it is.

.............I am using Sanderson Headers . They're made for the 351 cleveland but work with the 400 with the addition of a copper gasket to reduce the ports to the correct size. I've had them for 2 years and they are VERY high quality as they're ceramic coated inside and out .

Skuteman, i called Sanderson, they gave me part # FC1. They are very short, blockhugger style. their website listing says that a motor mount needs to be moved 1 inch for them to fit. did you have to move anything around for yours to fit?

My 77 f250 429 (not stock) is running tri-y custom made headers from the previous owner. They were made by a shop that does racing boat exhaust out in Everett Wa. They fit beautifully, but hang the exhaust awful low for my taste. I can post pics if you guys want.
I am currently looking for a set for my 77 f250 hiboy. I found a set at J.C Whitney for $119.00 they assure me they will fit. What do you guys think.
The previous owner said it came to him with headers so they must make some somewhere.
who makes those from jc whitney, do you have a part #? if you get them please let us know how they fit. 119 is a lot cheaper than the others i had found.
