Gentleman,
I have a 1997 ford F350 with a diesel 7.3. The check engine came on a will back and the computer is coding a P1396 and a P0603. I have changed all the glow plugs, glow plug relay and the injector Orings. The truck has 72000 miles on it and runs great once warmed up. On thing I have noticed after glow plugs didn't fix the problem was that the alternator gauge inside the truck moves back and forth after initial cold start. It used to remain low until 70 seconds or so passed. New glowplugs do pass olm test at 1.1 to .9 olms. What should I do next? Is the computer my next step?
Has the truck started to die and restart yet? If so check the CPS(Cam Shaft Position Sensor). Most likely the cause if this is also happening. It's an easy 10 min. fix! Good luck,
