u joint install

when i drop the drive line to install the new rear shaft u joints, can I just pull the slip shaft all the way out of the transfer case? will it slip right back in, will it leak fluid when it gets pulled out? 94 f-150 4wd

Yes, it's okay to pull the shaft off, it won't damage anything. Your Tcase may drip a little, but you won't have a flood of fluid. For reinstallation, just index the splines of the driveshaft to the Tcase and make sure they line up with the axle yoke.

Good and inexpensive thing to do is replace the output shaft seal while you are at it. It may not be leaking now, but since you have to pull the shaft to replace it...makes sense to me.
