I just bought some ventvisors that go in the window channel for my 2005 F250. The part up by the mirror will not go in all the way and it looks like I will have to loosen the mirror and put them in and then retighten the mirror. Has anyone else encountered this problem ? Also there are 3 rubber plugs in the door that look like where the mirrors are mounted. are the the only bolts that hold the mirror on?
Don't loosen to much! Just enough to get the visor in and no more. If you drop them it will fall inside the door and make a 5 minute job an hour job. Other than that it's all straight forward.
There are a total of four nuts that hold the mirror on.
Two have tape over them (back tow) two have rubber plugs...the cover on the inside (trim) just snaps off you need no tool to get that cover off.
My 2004 had 3 rubber plugs and two places with tape. Just loosen a little bit like toypuller said. Very easy installation and they look great as well as being
functional.
OK weather was good enough to day to put on my ventisors. Here is my experience. Loosening the mirrors did nothing at all to help the mirrors go in. What I had to do was grind the edge of the ventvisor a little at a time to get them to fit up in the track. Just do a little amount at a time to make sure you don't go to far and cause them to be loose. Ran alcohol wipe around the window track to clean surface. Pulled off tape placed visor into the track and rolled up the window using my hand to force the window all the way up. Now I will let them set 24 hours before rolling windows down. Hope this helps somone in the future to install theirs.
