I have a rebuilt '36 85HP with some elec. problems. The original wiring is being replaced with new stuff. Will that most likely allow me to shut off the truck and be able to start it again fairly soon, or will I still have to wait for it to cool down before it will restart?? Thanks~Dan
Not starting when hot is usually coil or condenser or even carb.
I doubt that changing the wiring will fix that problem, but you will be less prone to fires under hood and under dash.
How is a dead battery ?? related - wires shorting and causing a drain I 'spose? Or generator not charging or not polarized. Might need a bit more info to help.
Regardless, a flathead should start easily when hot.
I had that same problem years ago on a 53 Ford wagon with a Flathead V-8. It turned out to be the starter bolts were loose causing the armature to drag the field when it warmed up.
