Question Cab Swap Problems?

I don't know if this should go here or not but I thought that I would get the best responses here. I currently have an 88 F150 4x4 xlt. The cab is shot, well at least the floor and anything connected to it. I have an 87 4x4 that the cab is in great condition on, motor is shot. I planned on just swapping cabs since I know the running gear in the 88 works and not sure about the 87 (sat 3 years and never ran). I noticed that the shifter (5-speed) and transfercase shifter are in different locations. Also the 88 has a higher or stepped floor hump. Will it be a simple, emphasize simple, linkage change or is there really no affect on the different floor pans? This is going to be a weekend backyard project in a couple of weeks so I don't want too many suprizes. By the way the 87 is a 4-speed. Any ideas, comments, suggestions would be helpfull.
