Question 300 I-6 to 400

I haven't posted here in a while but I figure this was the place to get my answers. I've finally gotten time to start tinkering with my trucks again and you know how many different combinations there are out there for the '70s trucks. Guys, i've searched these posts and i haven't found any swaps identical to the one i'm doing but i'm sure i probably missed it. I have a '78 F-150 4X4 with a 300 I-6. I'm junking that thing and putting in a good 400 that I have. I already have the bell housing, flywheel and clutch which came from a '78 F-250. I'm sure i'll need to find some clutch linkages which is one of my questions but the main thing I need to know is what will i need to do about the engine stands. Will I need a donor F-150 that came with a 351/400M, or will the towers in the I-6 be used in some type of modified configuration? Thanks in advance for any replies.

The easiest is to get stands out of a donor - either 351m or 400 will work. Make sure itis out of a 4x4 though.

Is that necessary though, do you have to have them?

Feel free to use our free private messaging system and free classifieds sections...

Did you check out my sticky at the top of the page? Its titled 351M to 300 swap, this would be the opposite of that.

yeah I checked it out, but that thread references a swap in a high-boy. neither of the trucks I'm working with is a high-boy, therefore this will not be the opposite of that.
