now don't get me wrong.. i have a fairly good perception of how my 351 is losing oil.. it appears to be coming from my timing chain cover gasket on the oilpan... the bolts that came with the kit for the timing chain cover are too long.. it doesn't leak that bad but an oil leak spells shortened life for the motor..its small and only leaks after the truck has been parked... but not much.. the bolts are only about 3 threads too long.
yep i feel like kicking it myself.. since i've put this motor into this body its developed bookoo problems.. it was originally in a 76 f-100 explorer... and man did it run great..but now it has a double sump oil pan which means my oil stick is wrong *the stick is in the timing chain cover so it read wrong* and the double sump is supposed to be in the middle... but other than that it still has its 425 hp performance down pat.. besides i've always wanted a shortwheelbase f-150 they can be tricked out so much easier
>but i do got a question..
>is there any way other
>than a supercharger to put
>a cold air induction on
>one of these??
You could use ram air, but a supercharger would be so much better! Just take the time to save the cash and slap a SC on that baby and boy will it HOWL!
You could cut the bottom of the stock air box out, and saw out an exact same amount from the wheel well underneath it, connect them with a rubber gasket with a aluminum band over it for a clamp...but that wouldn't work with anything but the stock intake...with my K&N FIPK I put the stock airbox back over the filter, just pulled everything out of it and used a circle saw to enlarge the hole...keeps the mud off the filter when I feel the need, works about the same as the K&N did new...I'm hesitant at cutting the wheel well as I am selling the truck at the end of this year...
ideas sound good.. but first i gotta find all the original stuff for the truck.. the airbox is missing.. and the motor is by no means stock *for the truck or any other* but it does give me some ideas...
Hi, if you're running that much horsepower then you better not put a super charger on it you have to have way to high of a compression ratio for that you'll blow that thing sky high!!!
john
I'd be leary about cutting holes in the wheel well. The air in the wheel well is at a different pressure than that around it. So in theory, It would actually try to suck air from the box into then wheel well when driving.
Oh man your right fatforty. I completely looked over that this engine of his makes 425hp. I didn't see that. A supercharger wouldn't be good for an a 351 making that much horsepower on stock induction. Also how in hell did you get it to make that much horsepower in the first place without supercharging it?!
