I need to rebuild the 351 in my 93 F250. I know it needs at least a ring kit as I am getting blowby but a whole rebuild wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea if I have to do the rings. I can do the job and I can't afford to take it to a shop. I have 2 concerns about buying a kit. 1. Cost 2. Quality All I need is a kit that will work. I don't intend to build a more powerful motor unless I can do it for around the same $. I want a cheap kit that will do the job. Any suggestions?
I'd consider a replacement long block or short block, unless you really want to rebuild the engine yourself.
The long block (complete motor, minus a few minor things) will save you a good amount of money and headache. Check out fordpartsonline.com, they list stock motors for pretty good prices, but you may have to call and talk to them about it. I only saw a listing on their website, the details would require a phone call which I havn't made.
how many miles on the motor. doing the rings may still require a shop honing or boring the cylinders not to mention the bearings needing replaced if you going this far.
i to think a long block from a local parts store will get you back on the road fast
