Wow, ....just checked with my convertor and they have moved the production date for my van up from the week of 4/4/ to the week of 3/28. Its an E-350, gold in color, with a 6.0 L diesel engine and, THANKS TO THE ADVICE FROM YOU GUYS, a 4:10 differential. The VIN will be 1FDSE34P65HB44160. I originally thought it would have the sliding side door, but we ended up with the 60/40 doors.
I really appreciate all the help, especially from those of you who work in Lorain - I feel very confident having my van built by such concerned workers.
Keep an eye out for my baby! Sue

Sue I will start looking in the morning for you. I see you had a diesel moved ahead.....
haroldservice I'm wondering if somehow yours was pushed up a wee bit which maybe changed it's timing. I sent you a private message with more info.
I'll post here when yours is built Sue. So far the 2 previous members have had theirs run on my shift (harold's snuck by ) so maybe I'll see yours this week.
Supercrewdude, its very cool that you are looking out for the fellow FTE'ers. I venture down to the Lorain plant every few months (supplier), the next time that I'm in the area, I'll make sure to stop by.
Keep on building good ones.
I just wish that I could convince the wife that we need to replace our 91 E150 with a 05 E350, 6.0...

What parts are you supplying us with?
If I had a vehicle ordered I'd love to know it's status, so I have no problem checking. I wish I had better access to a scheduling computer, then I could find build dates. For now I can only find them once they hit Lorain.
Technically it's 2. Avon Lake builds and paints the bodies. They're trucked down the road to Lorain for final assembly. After January it will all be under one roof in Avon Lake, OH. The only plant for E-series vans.
I was surprised to get a call from Chariot Vans today saying they had the van in. So it was built on Thursday the 24th...I wasn't expecting it to be till the week of Apr. 4th. Wish I had known before that the date was moved up. Are you guys really slowing down now?
Next we will be waiting for the convertor to install our windows, inside walls, floor, and headliner. Then we will do the rest, building in what we want for a sort-of camper, with a fold-out bed but no cooking facilities. Luckily we live close to Elkhart, IN, where there is lots of van convertor salvage & surplus.
is that a good or bad thing for employees at ford to have one or two plants? jobs cuts, etc?
Someday,
If all goes as planned, Lorain will build its last econoline the end of December. When we return from Christmas break in January we're supposed to be building it all at Avon Lake.
This move will cut (according to Ford) 1,200 jobs because Avon Lake will lose production of the Mercury Mariner which is headed to Kansas City Assembly where it'll run along side the Ford Escape. KC also builds F-150's. I think it's Ford's largest plant. 5,000+ employees.
The auto industry is very shaky. Ford ultimately wants most of its operations very close to headquarters in Michigan. It's been said for a long time our van will end up in Dearborn where F-Series trucks are being built now. Time will tell. Other plants are expected to be closed in the next national contract.
