My 352 has been giving me a hard time. The spark is firing off the top of the rotor and to the base of the post where it comes thruogh the cap and it gets a green corrosion at the base of the post/cap. I have changed the wires, cap and rotor twice. The distributor is a new reman, coil and plugs are new. I have about pulled out all of my hair on this one. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.
Do the caps have aluminum contacts? If they do you need to A. replace with premium BRASS contact cap or B. put silicone dielectric grease on the posts.
I would suggest A. if you have the aluminum contacts.
Usually green corrosion is on brass contacts, I just realized. You are probably getting moisture into the cap that is causing it. Try the dielectric grease on all of the plug wire connections and contacts(a thin film). Sometimes you will get ionization in the cap that can't escape, perhaps a vent in the cap to allow circulation.
The post on the cap look like copper. I checked again last night and it looks like after replacing the new rotor it is firing correct. I'll give it more time and check it again. Thanks for the advice.
