As if the Avalanche was not ugly enough, they had to go and apply the stupid slanting headlight front end treatment to the pickups too.
Look as the Hummer H2. It is like a sow. The belly on that thing hangs so low that most any 2wd pickup (Ford anyway) has more ground clearance. I think the only purpose of the H2 is to take money from suckers that don't have a lick of common sense.
Ok, here's what I want to know...you only get an 8 foot bed out of it when you fold down the rear cab panel and remove the rear glass (that leaky crap already! HA!) but what happens then? You have an open cab where all the elements can get in??? From the commercial, that's how it looks, it folds down to give a fullsize bed, yet the whole rear is open, there's no wall or anything behind the rear seats.
And to top it off there's a roof over the front part of the bed??? How stupid is this design? I'd love to borrow some idiot avalanche owners rig and go haul gravel and bark mulch and have it all over in the cab and back seats and such
Then I'd say, "Gee I thought it turned into a truck?"
The Avalanche fits those individuals (how ever few they may be) who want to be truck drivers, yet like their cars and SUV too much to give them up. Yes the back is open when folded down, but I doubt many drivers even know how to do it. The only one I have ever seen folded down was in the commercial!
There are two explanations for the design of this vehicle
Aliens really did land at Roswell and are now working for Ford
Or
The design engineer got his inspiration from fridge art in his kitchen!
SUV=Suckers Utility Vehicle. any unibody "suv" is hardly that. today i saw a h2 with 40's on it....the person driving it looked down and saw the mud on my truck and asked where i did that, i told him"you'd get stuck" he laughed really hard. i asked if he knew how to engage 4wd and he couldnt answer(unless h2 is AWD i nevered payed attention). i think its tragic when people spend $60000 on a vehicle when you can spend $2000 for a vehicle with almost the same capabilities.

Ugly is an understatement. It looks like a RubberMaid container on wheels.
However, the Avalanche is quite attractive compared to the Honda Element. There's one in our parking lot from time to time and that thing is hidious. It actually has MORE plastic on the outside than the Av..
There certainly are LOTS of candidates for the "Stupid Car Design of the Year" award.
