I took a good look at one this past weekend, and was NOT impressed. It looks as though if you ever put a large heavy object in the back of it, like a stove, you would surely damage the hardware that holds all panels together. What would you do then? It does look similar to the El Camino concept, but it is not an improvement.
Ok, here's what I want to know...you only get an 8 foot bed out of it when you fold down the rear cab panel and remove the rear glass (that leaky crap already! HA!) but what happens then? You have an open cab where all the elements can get in??? From the commercial, that's how it looks, it folds down to give a fullsize bed, yet the whole rear is open, there's no wall or anything behind the rear seats. Stupid truck, what a waste of perfectly good plastic that could be used for something more important. Like...like the buttins on my shirt! And what is going to happen after a few years of sun? All that plastic is gonna fade and look like even more of a piece of junk.

Only vehicle that can change from an SUV to a pickup? Shoot, the old Broncos were better than that. Anybody remember takin the tops off of those? Now that was style. The Avalanche..... well, just like its name implies, is a disaster.

everything has gone down hill since those damn germans moved in
they are going to kill off jeeps offroad capability, theyre going to build them on german suv platforms, which are car based, and are not worth ##### in adverse weather/offroad
in my opinion all the new concept cars are ugly. i love the 50's, 60, and 70's styling of all cars, but like these new cars are so called areodymanic and they look terrbile! that chevy avalnche stinks, the jeep jeepster is ugyl, but the new farriarie's arn't bad. ford still makes the best looking trucks, and have eversince the 30's when they started making them!

Folks the Avalanche ain't a truck..
I am going to tell it like it is and if ya'll get mad I am sorry..
Avalanche was built so the rich would have something to brag about and so that other "KINDS" of people could put 20 something inch rims on them..And put all that other sissy add ons to it, to spend more money...
I have never seen an Avalanche used on a Farm around here and none of the Farmers I farm with or know own any..
The 2WD Avalanche looks so bad it's unreal Chebby even put them out and the 4WD is bad too....
Folk Z71 is getting alittle old lol
Chebby puts Z71 on almost ever 4WD they make.
At lest Ford does the 4X4OffRoad or the new FX4..
I am glad Ford hasn't gone and tried to make something like the Avalanche..The Explorer Sport Track isn't great but at least it does look more like a truck..
heck the old Broncos that you could take the shells off where before their time and I think they are better than the Avalanche..
Give it time, I think the Avalanche, will Avalanche Chebby's profits..
But as long as there are fools out there that will buy it,they will make it..
Everytime I see an Avalance, I'm reminded of the old episode of the Simpsons where they let Homer design a car, and it turns out to be an horrendous monstrosity. And I'd still rather have that, than the Avalance.
I wonder if they named it that after the avalance of crap that is bound to fall all over the place if someone tries to use one of those as a work truck?

I know what it is! Its the ******* love child of an Avalanche and a PT Cruiser!! I told them to keep that Avalanche on a leash! Now look whats happened. Spay or neuter your ugly ### vehicles people!
Re: 'maybe the look will grow on us'- Deb, I sure hope not! These vehicles are in the same class as those 'dustbuster' Lumina minivans of the late eighties. Yecccchhh. There must be something in the water in their art studios. Has anyone seen that hideous concept Cheyenne yet?
I thought it looked like what you would get if Max Headroom and that square headed droid from "Red Dwarf" had a baby!
Car manufacturers these days have no sense of style. I have seen GM dug up Harely Earle to help design their cars (Either that or stalk Tiger Woods ) Maybe Ford could dig up C.H. Wills to help design them. I am tired of cars and trucks looking like eggs on wheels
