Question Adding a fuel/water filter

Does anyone have a complete diagram of the fuel system for a 97 powerstroke. I would like to add a filter system but am not sure which fuel line is which, that comes out of the fuel tanks. Maybe someone has already done this?????
Hope someone can help.

Thanks

yeah i have put the dahl/amsoil one on. its the line that goes directly to the pump. the other line goes to the fuel filter housing which is the return. just gotta track it down on the frame. or pull a lid and track it from there. in the manual it dosnt say which is which

the filter was like $200 it was the biggest filter the dahl/ amsoil had its on there website. i have mine down in the frame rail under the drivers door. i was surprized how much crap it caught in the sediment bowl. im going to a complete electronic fuel system soon and dont know if im gonna continue to use the one i got on it now.

Thanks for the help. I've located the fuel line but now have to decide whether to use a bowl style or your basic screw on metal filter. The big rigs use the metal screw on ones so I can't see it hurting anything. Sometimes they use both styles. Your basic set-up is way, way, way cheaper for the same results. Not sure how the bowl style will fair up to rocks and debris smacking into it.I can probably do the basic style for about $ 60.00 Can./ $48.00 US.

HERE is an option.

Installed this when I did the tank and pre-pump mod.

Had to fab a bracket to hold the filter head.

The filter head is from NAPA and the filter/water seperator filter is form NAPA as well.
About $60.00 for the filter and head I believe. SS lines run was extra $$$.
Used diesel rated line from the SS line to the pump and from the ss line to the tank line.

Not sure how it will work on your 97 PSD, works fine on my "02".

It set it back about 18" from the pump where I could mount the filter bracket on the frame without drilling the frame.
I check and drain the filter every oil change.
I will change the filter once a year. Only had this on for 5 months now.
Diesel rated hose can be found at NAPA.
