Took another trip to the Ford dealer today and it seems the only problem with my truck is the aggressive tires. (Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTX) So, I am looking for some new tires.
Would like:
good highway traction
good light off-road traction
good snow traction
Here are some of the ones I have been told work good:
Dunlop Radial Rover R/V or A/T
Uniroyal Laredo
BFG Long Trail T/A
Oh, the truck is a 1995 F150 2wd 4.9L with twin I-beam suspension.
Hi I have had good luck with BFGoodrich all terrain t/a wear good not real noisey good traction not for serious mud but work good on road and off. John
I also run 31"x10.5" BFGoodrich A/T KO's on my truck, excellent excellent dry offroad traction, REALLY REALLY BAD MUD traction...hehe
pretty quiet on the road, ok wet traction (ok ok...I did a fish tail coming home from girlfriends house today but its raining pretty bad...and I kinda juiced it going into 2nd)
I also was looking at the dunlop radial rover AT's, they are a nice looking tire but since I didn't get them I can't say much other than that
I have had exelent luck with the BFG AT/TA 33-12.50-15
I have had 2 of them for over 3years, and there still good.
the other two are 1.5 years and they look new.
Also used the desert dualers, but they don't last as long.
Hope this helps
The BFG A/T's are a pretty nice tire. Many people run them. I'm looking in to the Pro Comp M/T. For one, the tread pattern is nearly identical to that of the BFG M/T, and secondly, they're cheaper. I believe the BFG's do have a higher weight rating though.
russe go for the BFG T/A KOs. They're a damn good tire and will last you a long time. I installed 31x10.5s BFG T/A KOs (15x8 rims) on my '94 300 F150 2WD and I like'em. They have given truck real good traction and they can withstand heavy loads. As soon as I get a locker in the backend of my 2WD, these tires will really bite. If you are a weekend warrior get'em. Because you have a 2WD truck you could really use the extra traction. Don't let some salesman try to sell you different tires because you have a 2WD truck. That's all the more reason why you need tires with good, aggressive traction. Get'm and slap'em on and have fun man!!!!
