As it looks right now, I might forgo my love of AT tires, for something that should net a bit better mileage. The positive is that I get to stick with a brand I love, Michelin.

Im still open to other ideas though. I have a few days to figure out what I want to do.

Not on my '04 F150, but I have previously had both Bridgestone Dueler AT and MT (on different vehicles) and loved them both for their intended purpose. In both cases they balanced very easily.
Additional benefit of buying them from Firestone is that Firstone offers a 30-day satisfaction. Within 30 days if you're not satisfied they will either reinstall your original tires and refund OR move you to a different tire that they carry and apply your original purchase price towards that end. Takes a lot of the risk out of it.

we have the explorer pro comp xterrain tires on our truck here... and we took it off roading heavily the first time today and it did really well. they are also nice on the road...
i dont know how well they stay balanced yet though because the truck hasnt seen too much driving yet as we just finished it.

I have had zero problems with them, great in the snow and the rain. The only thing you can say is they are a tad louder than the Pmetric's but that is because they are an LT tire and the tread design that gets rid of the snow and mud are a little more agressive.

Thank you for this post. I didnt even know there was an upgrade on the FX4 for tires (bought mine left over). I think I am going to just go this route, since its something the dealer should stock. I dont have any negative opinions on Goodyear. Ill definately miss these P rated pieces of garbage .

The upgrade was from the P-Metric to the LT tire. I think you will be satisfied with the Goodyears. They give a good all around performance and I thionk a very good compromise. Tread wear has been fine over the first 12k miles. But they certainly aren't the P-Metric tire you are getting rid of. And the dealer should be able to get his hands on them. Hood Luck
