I recently took delivery of a 2005 F-250SD Lariat w/ 17" wheels and after about a week noticed that there was no spare tire underneath the track.
I contacted the salesman and his first comment is that the Super Duty doesn't come with a spare; I showed him that my invoice indicated that there should be a spare with the vehicle.
He then said they'd get me a spare & have it by last week; on Friday, I got a call that his management has rethought this and will 'maybe' split the cost with me. Needless to say, I'm not very happy with them.
So, I may need to find a spare tire - any suggestions on where I can get one for a resonable price?
Thanks much,
Rick
Go back to the dealer and demand your spare tire. And if they still don't comply tell them you'll talk to your lawyer about it and get ahold of the better business bureu(sp). No way would i let them attempt to get more money from me. On top of it i'd tell them they can just refund your money and have the truck back since you didn't get everything that was supposed to come on the truck.
That is absolutely ridiculous. If the dealer does anything less than provide a spare at no cost to you, I would immediately contact the customer complaint dept. at Ford, and demand a new one. "The super duty doesnt come with a spare?" Thats one of the better lines of BS I've heard from a dealer........
I totally agree with BigFord... First, you just spent a ton of cash on a truck, it SHOULD come with one FREE!!! Second, since you have already paid for it once, don't pay a &#$*&#$ cent for it again! I'd be red faced with that
sales manager. I'm red faced right now! I can't believe dealers sometimes.
They need to call the factory about this. I had the wrong rear window in my truck that the factory installed. I had them install the right after I showed them the window sticker and they had to call the plant to verify.
Go back and talk to Management. The spare is included even if you have premium wheels. You'll have a standard spare. It's not an option. It's Standard Equipment. Included at no extra charge.
Else, legal action won't be cost effective. But, bad mouthing the business and taking your business to another dealership is extremely effective.
The spare not being included is an obsolete excuse. It used to be an option back in the 90's. I know since I found out the hard way. But it should not be anymore. I just looked at my DORA for my 2004, and it shows the prices of the truck and each and every option. The "Spare Tire & Wheel" is N/C , just like the "Jack", "Frt Licence Bracket", "Passenger Airbag" and "CFC Free A/C" Tell the dealer you want the number for the regional Ford rep.
That is just WRONG!!! Go after the dealer and demand they provide you with one. Then when you are satisfied with the spare, take your business to another dealer.
Good Luck
That is just a straight out LIE. Take lots of Notes and call ford before you do anything else and let them know what is going on and what your intentions are.Unless you special ordered the truck, or just really want it i would take it back and park it in their lot and purchase one from another dealer. It amazes me what these dealers tell people when they know better.
Be careful before you jump to conclusions. Mine was stolen the day after I picked it up from the lot. The first thing I did with my 05 was put a lock on it. The really interesting thing for me on the 05 was that it was a nice wheel not the el cheepo.
mine is a 05 lariat the spare is there and its a matching 17 inch alloy. the lock key for my spare was in my glove box with out it you can't crank the whell down. go back and bust their back. don't take it laying down
