93 XLT 4wd
I've been driving Chevy Vans for about 25yrs now. Had great luck with them. Being a general contractor/carpenter I've found vans to be ideal for my line of work. I stumbled onto this truck when a client wanted to do some barter for work on her house. I've been kinda skeptical because it's been sitting for a few months now. The muffler was laying in the bed, tires and coolant were low, oil kinda dirty, battery weak. The wife and I drove over with coolant and jumper cables. We let it take a slow charge for about 5mins and then tried to crank it. Started right away - no smoke, no wierd noises. Drove it just a couple of blocks to check it out. Aired the tires. Switched the tag off my van and took the Ranger for a short spin. Clutch is stiff and action is close to the floor but seems to work fine. No throwout bearing noises, no slippage. After about 2mi I stopped to look it over. No obvious leaks (other than the missing muffler). I don't have a manual and am reluctant to try the 4wd function until I get some instructions on that. Never owned a 4wd before but it'd be mighty nice to take it down the beach on the Outer Banks. Whenever I've been up to Hatteras to windsurf I never dared to drive my old vans on the beach for fear of getting stuck. That's about to change!
So o o , here's my 1st post and I'm off to learn about the world of Rangers. Cheers from Coastal NC! PEACE!
