Converted chev kid
Just wanted to drop a line a say hi!!!
I recently left the arena of malibu's and chevelle's and of course the full line of chev trucks and bought myself a 72 f-100 ranger xlt. I only had about 3 hours with the truck to decide if I was going to make the swap. We were passing through a small northern town in Sask visiting my wife's family, her uncle (an avid hot rodder)had mentioned his dismay at my affection for chev's because he new of this great find hiding away in an old shed. Only it was a ford. Well long story short... after inflating 3 of the tires with the old portable ,borrowed from uncle, I boosted it and drove it to town for a fresh tank of fuel. I was pretty impressed with the old iron, it didn't idle until it warmed up but it hadn't ran in 2 years so I was forgiving. And I'm extremely glad I was... here's the kicker... I bought the truck and had it moved to my uncles farm yard to be picked up at the end of this month, as we were travelling with my 7 month old I wasn't allowed to drive it the 9 hour trip home and it needs a little TLC before I embark on that long a haul. I wrote all the numbers down I could find because I wasn't a ford guy growing up and I didn't know all the little nuances with engines, heads ect.......( I was told it was an old 351 windsor) Thanks to people like the members here I have now learned that my 351c is a rarer find and even though I'm not 100% ,a few replys have hinted at the large bore heads..(I'm thinking these might be in line with the old 302's in the chevy world ????) With all recent chrome, no cracks in the dash or glass and only one cab corner rusted out I'm extremly happy with my FIRST FORD.....Not bad for $1200.00 canadian
Anyway.. as soon as I go pick it up I'll post a couple pics and starting picking brains for all the Ford knowledge you possess
Once again well met and thanks for listening to my ramble
