All of this being said, my c6 hasn't been apart in nearly 300,000 miles and I don't shift it in neutral at a light. The only oil change was about 100,000 miles ago. A clamp came loose on a hose and the hose came off, it slipped to a stop. I put the hose back on, filled it up & haven't touched it since.

Makes sense. I dont think it is an air flow thing, its under the radiator, kinda in a dead spot above the air dam. ment its 4" before the cooler in the line. it is physicaly below/behind the radiator.

Maybe I will try moving my probe. but it is the hotter of the two lines, and it's the one that comes out of the front of the tranny. actually the side, but the front of the two. and I have been watching it the last few days and and the only time i can get it above 145* is if I am in town, starting and stopping. staight driving it sits at 145* I doubt it is over cooled. its the stock cooler in the radiator.

ohh well If it dies, which it prolly never will, shifts rock sollid. I am not to worried. need a BTS tranny soon anyway to handle the HP.

Thanks all

I got wacha saying now about the probe placement, Dieselrod. May be you have it pegged where it is. I will try to get my hands on some viscosity mmt. equipment real soon (I'm involved in a biofuel study here at MOO-U) and I might try to run some viscosity change vs. temp. change numbers just to see what really happens. In summer in particular, I've never known anyone here in Mississippi complain about their fluids running too cold. Cooler weather could be a different story I guess. I'll let you know what I find out. You do the same.

It's weird. I have been watching it more when I drive and it hardly ever gets above 145*. only 160* in town. Maybe saturday I will move it to the other line and see what happens. but I too have never heard of a stock radiator overcooling. have to do a few tests on the probe too. maybe it is bad.

whats your water temp, that might have something to do with it. and I run my probes into the pan, I have always liked that better personally you might try that and see if it makes a difference

Ok, now I am worried, I used my truck to haul my flatbed today, with a ton of hay. It did great in town, staying at 190* the whole time, but as soon as I hit the short hill to the dump, it starts climbing, it got just over 210* when I stopped at the top. It was less than a 2 minute drive uphill. When I went back the second time, I kept it in 1st gear the whole time(speed limit is 20) and it stayed just under 210*. Like i said before, my probe is in the feed line to the stock cooler, and my aux. cooler is huge, it is almost 1/2 the size of my radiator. What should I do? I was thinking of an electric fan on the cooler, or maybe another cooler, but I have no more useable space in front of my radiator(aux engine oil cooler). I will never be able to take this thing camping, unless I pull over all the time to let it cool!

if you can put a elec fan on the aux cooler that will make a huge difference at 20mph you aren't getting nearly enough airflow even with a huge cooler.

I guess I'll pick one up tomorrow, may be awhile to get installed though, have to remove my pushbar and bumper to get the grill off. At least it runs fine around town.
