Options for resetting Speedo
1. have dealer do it
2. purchase a Superlift Truspeed Speedo Recalibrater
3. purchase a Tuner.
4. I am also considering installing a Factory Tech Valve body or other tranny revalveing
The truck is my daily driver plus I haul a horse trailer often in the summer and take several road trips a year. Trailer with horses is under 10,000 lbs. I am mostly concerned with making the truck bombproof rather than increasing performance as I understand that the premium gas settings are not usefull when towing over 4000 lbs.
There also seem to be a lot more rpm related functions going on than just the speedometer/odometer reading with these computer managed engines such as brakes, fuel delivery, engine timeing shift points etc. I have looked through literally dozens of threads in several different forums. and most seem concerned with power and performance so I am in a bit of a quandery where to start. Anyone have any suggestions ?
leaving the truck stock in tune is your best way to bomb proofing it. the factory air filter cleans the air best. while the others are good units they do at times become the main reason for mass air senser fouling.i.e. being when cleaned most users tend to over oil them and the oil kills the senser. they also do not filter out the very fine dirt that a throw away filter does. good luck with your ride
