98 Ranger Power Steering problem
Now to the problem. I have replaced the high pressure power steering hose twice now. About 2 days after driving the truck the power steering wouldn't work anymore. When I removed the hose I found that the hose was cracked (this happened to both of the hoses I bought). This is where the problem is I don't know why the hose keeps cracking.
My father told me that it was probably a bad motor mount and that when the truck is started and the engine shakes that it is pulling on the hose and breaking it. However that idea was dismissed becasue thier is enough slack in the hose so that it isn't being pulled at all.
I appreciate all replys, Thank you

If you keep blowing PS hoses like that then there could be too much pressure building in the system. This might be a result of there being a restriction in the system somewhere, such as a pinched hose, a clogged filter or a blocked cooler. There is also a pressure relief valve built into the pump assembly that should be keeping the high pressure in check.
The hose is cracking on the metal part right where it comes out of the power steering pump. If it was a pressure problem wouldn't the hose break where the metal connects to the rubber part. It seems as though that would be the weakest part and it would break thier instead of cracking the metal part. I am not sure though as I am not familiar with this type of problem.
