Last year I got a '78 and a '79 Crew cab. Both shortbed 4x4's.
The '79 had a better body, but had a 460, and would be IM hell, so I swapped a 400 into the '78 and got it going. It is running great, drove it to work for the second time today.
This summer I am going to swap the other cab on, as well as go from a 4-spd to a C6.
I am also thinknig about lifting it anough to run 35's. I shouldn't need but 2 or 3" right?
I will try to get some pics and put them in the gallery soon.
Just wanted to let you know there is one more old crew cab on the road!
Those old Crews are just too cool!! Got the motor back in mine today, and actually got it to bark a couple of times, to the shop this week for the exhaust system. Then onto the road here as well!!
I got my stretched F-150 back this week. started to strip it down to get ready for the crewcab install. when done it will be a F-150 longbed crewcab, with dual tanks in the bed.
pictures to come.
also I will be building the wife a super-shortbed crew from my regular cab F-250. (ranger XLT) my wife doesn't need the bed length, and the steering radius stinks on the crew shortbed she has.
by early summer we should have three crews cruising around, the F-600, her F-250, and my F-150 longbed
Nice pics they were worth the wait. Those motorsport valve covers seal up like champs, I have a set on my 460. Whd507 is gonna have the crewcab camp starting this summer. LOL I have one and its an endless moneypit. 3 would put me in the poor house but a very happy man!
