1948 ford pickup

I am looking at a 1948 Ford F-6 firetruck. I want to know if there are any differences in the cab size of the 1948 F-6 compared to the F-1? Are there any differences in the fenders or the hood size? If so can the fenders be changed from the F-100 to the F-600 cab?

I believe the F6 cab is larger and the fenders will not fit. Would be best for you to get this confirmed by someone who can say this with 100% certainty.

From what I know, the cabs stayed the same. The fender width was the same on F1-F6 trucks. Only difference was the wheel well opening was larger on F2-F6 than on F1. The fenders were widened, as well as an even larger wheel well opening, on F7, F8 and COE trucks.

If I am wrong, then someone else will correct me.

You're correct. The F-7 to F-8 fenders are wider and the opening is larger. The hood is the same on all the trucks, F-1 thru F-8. The COE is completely by itself on sheetmetal.

Yes, F-1 fenders can be used with the F-6 cab. I am using F-1 fenders on an F-3.

I know where there are 2 x-firetrucks in Hamden CT. They are now cab and chassis, with PTP pump still there.
Talk to Chuck at Chucks Trucks (203) 288 2769.
F1 Fenders are different than the larger trucks (and running boards)

The cabs are the same, the hoods are the same, the fenders are the same width/size thru F6 but the wheel wells are larger on F4 and up. The F7's & F8's have much bigger fenders and wheel wells. My 51 pictured has a cab and front assembly from an F8. I had to re-arch the wheel wells to fit/match over the 16" wheels. I have it sitting on a 1984 F350 chassis which has a wider track than the older pickup trucks so my tires are about flush with the fenders. I had to widen the bed about 5" to fit over the spring perches.
