Rear Cargo Storage Unit
I found some great black cases at IKEA, of all things, that work really great and cost almost nothing.
I also found a fold up black cloth thing at Walmart for 6 bucks that works great. I keep a couple coats, a camera bag, my wife's spare shoes, etc in the Wallyworld thing. Keeps the stuff out from under the seat, where everything goes that you put in the back. Since it is black, you can't see it very well if you just peek in the window. I like that...
I'm going to post pics in my gallery tonight, if I get the chance.
Hope you find a cool solution for your storage needs,
Chris

Has one, is this the one you are looking for?
It's a stock ford part.

Its looks pretty cool... but I agree, for $95.95 I think I can come up with another solution. Thanks again!
The morning I bought my 2004 STX Regular cab, I was unaware of one of the most unique features of the New Body truck. My research had been on the previous model 1997-2003 plus 2004 Heritage line of trucks.
On finding a great deal on a New Model, I was surprised that it had 4 doors. Although called a 2 door, there are, indeed 4 doors. The rear doors are shorter by quite a bit than the rear doors on a Scab. They are just large enough for windows (which are useful, as they eliminate blind spots). The rear area is about 13 inches wide, more than in any regular cab I have ever seen.
This large storage area is great, but does present a couple of small problems.
On the regular cab, anything you toss on the back ‘ledge’ behind either seat will end up under that seat in pretty short order.
On the Supercab, you have space under the rear seat that you might utilize, or if you are just carrying something like a spare coat, you can usually toss it on the rear seat.
A coat gets under the seat in the first hard stop. A camera, in a soft case, becomes a broken camera when you adjust the seat back. I crunched my wife’s old camera when we changed drivers.
So I had to find something to hold things from getting crunched. I’ve seen people using tool boxes, various wooden devices, etc.
I have a tonneau cover, so I have no need of carrying things you wouldn’t want to share the cab with. If it’s dirty, it goes under the Fold-a-Cover. Same with if it’s huge. So what I wanted to carry was stuff like coats, camera, binoculars, small shopping items.
I also have subwoofer that uses up the rear of the passenger seat.

A soft fold up cloth ‘carryall’ Cost under 7.00 bucks. It will fold up flat in about 2 seconds, or you can use it to carry a bag full of stuff. It’s black, which works pretty well in a light gray and black interior. You don’t really see it much behind the seat.
Plus is when you run the seat all the way back and recline it, it just presses the side back. It’s soft cloth, so it doesn’t mind being pressed back. There is Velcro under and on it’s back, but I never put the matching strips down. When it’s on the carpet, it stays put even when taking a winding road too fast.
We’ve been using it about two months, and have had nothing slide under the seats.
Downside, is it’s a little too spacious. If you toss in two coats, a bag of shoes, the sunshade, a camera, etc. you have to ‘rummage’ through it for your small stuff.
It’s also not terribly nice looking, in that it has strap handles, and not neat trim.
The center section I have started filling with what is sold as a CD caddy.

It is fabric, collapses down flat in a couple seconds. It has cardboard inside it, so it is fairly stiff when expanded. It has a zip cover that conceals the contents. A thief might see it and think it contains CD’s. A risk, but set behind the center 20% seat it isn’t very visible.
There is a place to put a Kleenex box behind and under the back of the center 20%. With this low black box in place, you can still easily reach down for a tissue while driving.
This box cost 4.00 bucks at IKEA.

This is a large version of the flat center box. I tried it behind the drivers seat, but as it is ‘hard sided’ when I put the drivers seat all the way back, and recline it all the way, it leans on the box. If you don’t do that, it’s a great cargo solution.
Sometimes when waiting in the truck, I recline the seat all the way back, and snooze. This prevents my using the taller box.
It cost 6.00 at IKEA.
So at present my rear area is used up by a subwoofer box, the small flat box, and the large cloth box. It allows me a surprising amount of in cab storage, for about 11.00 plus tax.

I calculate the aggravation factor based on how long I plan on keeping the truck. If I plan on keeping the truck 3 years, the cure for the aggravation cost me less than $3.00 per month and if I plan on keeping it 5 years, the factor is less than $2.00 per month. I plan on 10 years so my cost is under $1.00 per month or one canned drink or candy bar per month and I don't need either.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Does yours look exactly like the one in my previous posting? I ask because on my 2005 I have a "hump" in the middle of the rear wall where the "shoulder" belt retracts (not shown in the picture). It almost seems that the organizer would have to accomidate for that "hump".
They will fold up, if you wanted them to, but I don't think we have ever folded either one. It's just something you could do if you wanted.
I decided against a hard plastic unit of any kind because on the horrid roads in my area, you can't even have an ink pen, or coins loose anywhere in the cab or the clanking will drive you nuts. I had a hard plastic tool box back there the second week, and by the time I got accross town, I think I could identify every tool in the box by it's clatter. The combination of very tight frame, quite interior and super bad roads is a pain if everything isn't padded or tied down.

I've seen pics of the storage unit for reg. cabs, but I can't tell if the unit is essentially just a tray, or whether there's a box under the tray (something you could put tools, cameras, etc. in).
