Well, when I started this post, gas in my area averaged about $2.40 for regular, give or take a few cents . I just saw a couple of stations posting prices at $2.79 . Where in the hell is my Jack Daniels ? Anyone recommend a good quality syphon hose? LOL. Just kidding.
i was running around the other day, it's up to 2.05 to 2.19, but it looks like it dropped 2 cents over the weekend, I filled up with 2.09 on friday, and now it's 2.07 there.
I ran across an article in a magazine a few months ago about this guy who was selling kits to convert diesel vehicles to burning waste vegetable oil they could get free from restaurants (www.greasecar.com). It made me wish my truck was already diesel so I could try it out.
If it really works, it seems like it would be wise for us to switch to diesel vehicles and burn vegetable oil rather than remain reliant on fossil fuel. The government supposedly pays farmers not to grow crops, so why not have them grow crops that could be made into vegetable oil fuel? It would sure be a boon to farmers, which I like. Maybe some of the billions the government is spending on propping up oil-producing countries—or invading them--could be spent on buying back all the gasoline-burning vehicles we have now so we could afford to replace them with diesels.
I hate the thought of giving up my gasoline-powered vehicles, but I would do it in order for the country to become free of its dependence on fossil fuel.

You said it. Too many gearheads fear new technology. Truth is, vehicles could run off dilithium crystals mined from the planet Zortron and we'd still find ways to have fun modding them.
