No it won't hurt it a bit more than likely help it and maybe if your an observant person give you a little bit of upper range hp a coupel hp possibly nywayz. Although do be careful in some states thats illegal here in ohio it is anyways. Most still do but you can still get in trouble so be careful.

Ive been running around with just pipes off the cats for over a year now.
No problems, sounds great, not too loud, not too quiet.
Sounds the best when your on it hard. I'm in N.J. i dont know if its legal, guess I'll find out when I go thru inspection in 2006

I've been running mine true striaght pipe (no cats) for about 2 1/2 yrs. sounds mean, no problems aside from the fact I got a wrist pin or something going in the engine (she's startin to rattle internally), but I can't complain, it's blew all the oil out of it, been over heated numorous times, it see's 5500 rpms a few times a day and it has 275K all original, so i suppose it's time for a rebuild/build up or a built up 351, idk yet but I got 2 months to decide.
