Transfercase?

Transfercase?
Hey i'v got a question i'll explain it best i can but it's hard to tell, just wanted some opinions.. I bought my truck, Had transfercase problems, eventually the 4x4 broke... so I drove it 2x4 for a while, Recently I decided to pull the transfer to take a look at it, and I had forgotten i drained it and forgot to put fluid in it, and this is why i beleive its the transfer, but anyways the problem is, It won't move in any gear.. 1st 2nd, or drive.. but in reverse it moves... in all the other gears it will make a small grinding almost noise, as if a gear isn't quite catching inside, and from what people have told me i have burned it out completly.. also when i put it in park it will make an awful grinding noise.. any advice? I'm getting a new transfer case in a couple of weeks, but i'm hoping the transmision is ok ?

Also my O/D light was flashing on and off for a day or so... But like I said i had no fluid in my transfercase.. and enough in my tranny... so couldn't that light blinking also mean it was my transfercase and not my Tranny messing up.. since they are kind of together.? any feedback is apreciated..
