Has anyone ever used an automatic shifter in the floor for a Ford P/U Manual to auto conversion? What about an automatic floor shifter from a Ford Aerostar van to be used in a 1988 Ford F150 XLT Lariat that will have a 4spd automatic Tranny installed?

I am seriously having problems finding a 4spd auto steering column in South Georgia.

I have good news and bad news for ya. I've also been looking into this lately, and her's what I got from B&M.

You can use any 3-speed shifter, but will have to fabricate a custom cable bracket at the transmission as there are currently none made for the E4OD. You will also have to rewire the OD button to somewhere in the dash or center console (if you're making one as I am).

Traildawg- he most likely has an AOD in his truck due to the year. In this case, any three speed shifters would work as the OD is controlled by the shifter itself. Take a look in Summit's catalog, they list a few for AOD's.

Mr Laserboy,

I currently have a worn out 5spd Mazda tranny that is going to cost about $600-$800 to rebuild the top end. I would rather spend $500 more and put in an automatic.

Both B&M and Hurst make shifters and cable brackets for the AOD transmission. If you go with the E4OD trans, my post above would apply. Then there's the AODE, which is the newest rendition of the AOD (E is for the electronic controlled OD). The only shifter I've seen for this trans is B&M's Hammer, but it's a console model for Mustangs.

I'm planning to build a center console and use B&M's QuickSilver shifter for my E4OD. I'll probably go with the console model for the 70's Camaro/Firebird just for that "made to fit" look. Hope this helps some and good luck
