Keeps running
I got to work a little late, parked the truck, removed the key and jumped out. The truck was still running! Not "run-on" but idling just fine. I tried the ignition key back and forth a few times and no luck. I did notice that the tach is noticably more eratic with the ignition turned off but other than that it runs fine and rev's good too.
Like I said I was late so I just pulled the coil wire and will deal with it tonite. Hopefully the battery is not draining?
The only thing I can think of that would cause this is the ignition switch itself. Has anyone else had this happen or is there something else I should check?
thanx

I hate intermitten problems like this, hard to fix if it won't stay broken! Also makes me think that it might be related to heat. This likely rules out the ignition switch. You maybe right with the started solenoid or maybe the ign. module?
I'll have to see if it acts up again after a longer drive.
4X4Dump was right on, it is the starter solenoid/relay. I took a test lite and found that The "I" terminal had voltage on it with the wire pulled off. A gentle tap(ok,.. maybe not so gentle
) to the top of the solenoid and everything went back to normal. Now I know I have two or three of these in the garage somewhere should take me most of the weekend to find it but it's about time I clean out the garage anyways! Thanks for the help.
